Internet Slang
Internet slang is a type fo language developed by the internet users. Most of its words originate from the desire to save movements on the keyboard. The words are often written in tiny, and capitalization are reserved for cases where you want to put emphasis.
The not accustomed eye often found a written text difficult to interpret, because some elements of spoken language as the pitch and tone of voice, which help to define certain emotions, can not be transferred directly into written text.
The emoticons (also called smilies, as :-)) may in some way make clear the emotional intent of a message written. As happens in many slang, users can mean the same emoticons in a sincere way or in a sarcastic way, for example, the emoticons ":-p", which is a face with his tongue out, can express genuine fun but also a sarcastic or slightly negative comment on something said by someone else.
The Internet slang is also used in a variety of other electronic media like SMS, Instant Messaging, chatroom and forum.
The abbreviations related to this world evolve and change continuously and with the greatest speed.
Users often "invent" abbreviations on time, thereby rendering the conversation often meaningless, unclear and confused. These abbreviations snapshots can lead to things like OTP, on the phone, or OPTD, from outside petting the dog. A common characteristic of Internet communications is the truncation of words or modification of these forms digitabili faster. All this can be used common everyday, and often end up registered in dictionaries. In Italy, for example, the adverb "however" (comunque) on the Internet is often abbreviated to "cmq".
